I'm really quite exhausted and don't have the energy to write a proper blog. But it's been a few days and before I get too far behind, I figured I'd share a few highlights of the week.
Renovations.. oh man this has eaten the majority of my time. After realizing that the ugly laminate was hiding these beautiful hardwood floors, I decided to pull it up and sand and refinish the floors. Keep in mind I have zero, zilch experience with any of this. I am an optimist, and figured a day would get the job done. The first room went smoothly, second room not so much.. I spent most of the last week on my hands and knees with a hand held floor sander, and a putty knife scraping up goop off of the floor. I have never worked so hard in my life.. my body ached for days. But DAMN it felt good to see the wood underneath. I really couldn't have done it without my best #1 executive assistant lol..
Deana worked her ass of, pulling nails out of the wall, sanding, painting... seriously... we were dynamite together. We had help from a few friends that I already did shout outs to in my last blog, but the majority of the work was done by two fierce country girls. YEAH! And it is BEAUTIFUL. Coming along nicely. Bedroom is painted, just need to put up base boards and do a clear coat on the floor, and paint the door and windows white. Grandma would be so pleased to see her little house slowly turning back into a cozy home.
Think I can get workman's comp for this injury? ;-) i did have to miss a day of work because my hand became infected. Big chunk of wood under that skin.
The living room, music room, chill room is really the room I'm most excited to finish. My dad thinks I'm crazy because what I want to do to the floors will be time consuming.. but I have a method. And I've done crazier things. I'll continue to post photos of my renovations, but I will be doing the rest in my spare time. My goal was to get this space livable, and it finally is! :-)
I've been screeching on my violin. I had one lesson with Clyde, and decided to hold off on that for a while for various reasons. I did learn to hold the violin, the string names, violin parts, etc. Curtis (Deana's other half) is a multi talented musician, the other night he was kind enough to play guitar and let me screech around on my violin a little. This is a video of a song I taught myself the first night I had my violin stringed, although I think it's a little out of tune... prepare to be amazed. KY Opry here I come!!! hahaha.... But seriously, this video is silly. It's twinkle twinkle little star. I only post it to track my progress, assuming I make progress lol. Youtube is awesome, I'm confident that I can learn at least the basics from youtube and just playing around. I was inspired by Lindsey Stirling, this girl taught herself how to dance via youtube, while playing violin. School of youtube... It's worth a try!
In other news.. this farm is turning into a REAL FARM. We just need a cow. And a pig. So my brother and sister found this sweet little puppy shaking on the front porch today, we bathed her and named her Farrah Faucet because of her amazing blonde wavy hair. She's really a sweet puppy. Not sure how long I can play mommy to all of these animals.. She's bathed and front lined, I may keep her long enough to find a good home. Luna seems to like her though...
Farrah Faucett <3
Kisses
hahaha... think they like her?
So now we have Rhett and Scarlett (my favorite two stray cats), their mother and the other mean stray which I refuse to name because I don't want to build a relationship with lol, the new dog Farrah Faucett, and my neighbor today offered me one of her horses. Do I have a sign up outside that says PLEASE come on in if your a stray animal and I'll feed you and cuddle you and love you? I must have missed something.
This is Blaze, the horse my neighbor has offered me... hmmmmmm....
Luna has made peace with the kittens.
Rhett and Scarlett
Went to WV last weekend with Deana and Curtis. Oh KY... WV is even crazier than you... Saw some interesting things at this little dive bar called Dandy's. Curtis and I sat in with the band. Fun times
Deana and Curt
She was once a gymnast. Proving to us that she can walk with line/balance beam, with a healthy buzz.
Interesting place to have a wedding reception <3
I'm tuckered. This took longer than I anticipated. I do love writing these little blogs and sharing pieces of my life with you :-) I leave you with this important message about safety when doing home renovations, in place of my normal quotes section. <3 Goodnight
